About Me
Amy has been married for 24 years, her husband says it has been the happiest 40 years of his life – he is very funny.
She has two amazing kids, Danny and Jana. Danny is 17 and to quote his 4th grade teacher, “he is a happy-go-lucky deep thinker”. Amy is thrilled that he inherited the best of the combined gene pool. There was a distinct possibility that he could have become a very volatile space cadet. Jana is a junior in college and crossing over to becoming ‘the adult child’, something that is not always so easy for her very proud mom. Both kids are the light of her life – a crazy woman who just happens to love teenagers.
Amy is a graphic designer by trade and works in the PR, Marketing, Pharmaceutical, Consumer Goods, Special Events and Corporate Design industries. Her work includes creative brand strategy as well as art direction and design. She has worked in just about every market, from beer to blood pressure meds. Social media is her passion and she has made the transition into incorporating Web 2.0 in everyday business with great joy.
She has been a WAHM since way before we had a name for it. In fact, at the beginning of her motherhood women had to say things like, “I am sorry, I can’t make that meeting, I have a conflict” which translated into: “Sorry, I have to take my kid to the doctor”. Her favorite quote from a fellow working mom was, “When a dad takes off the morning to go to a kid’s play he is a great father. When a mom does, she needs to get her priorities straight”.
Thankfully the working world has evolved and women are now able to strike their own balance, retaining a professional life while still being the kind of parents they want to be – a fact she celebrates every day.

In response to your comment on 50-s, if you’re interested in joining us, send me your direct email and pointers to a couple of sample posts that would work in a group blog (that is, using your life to illustrate something that resonates, or is opinionated, or funny, or outrageous; not journally or reviewy) and I’ll get back to you direct.

“She has worked in just about every market, from beer to blood pressure meds.”
“beer and blood pressure meds” – I thought the former was part of the latter! ;> At least that is how my daughter’s grandmothers use it (just substitute “beer” with a bit of “Vodka” for Grandma #1 and “Scotch” for Grandma #2)! As in, “I need this, I’ve already been diagnosed with High Blood Pressure” combined with the “Don’t you go there” facial expression! LOL!
Thank you for blogging! Just reading the name of your blog makes me feel better (and less alone)! Love you already!

I’d be blogging but I don’t have the time and it makes me cry.

As a Che-na-wah girl in the mid 60s-early 70’s I too felt the emboldenment of womanhood from my experiences there. I just now found out about the loss of Alice Sternin and a Google search led me to your blog. I believe she was a mentor and a progressive. She allowed the girls to come into themselves individually and as a group. I had alot of parental problems, with an unhappy stepmother who wanted me gone for the summers but didn’t want to pay much. In later years I found out that she had refused to fund a “canteen” account for me. I never lacked for a treat from canteen. Alice just took care of it.
